Successful Measures Undertaken to Recruit M/W/ESB Firms
Our firm uses a variety of measures to connect with small, minority, and disadvantaged businesses:
- Our firm has established a web portal for interested subcontractors to connect with PBS and provide their qualifications for use in future project endeavors.
- Our firm regularly updates and utilizes a small-business subcontracting plan. Individual goals are developed on a project-basis. Project Managers regularly search State and Federal source lists of small, disadvantaged, women-owned, HUB-Zone, veteran-owned, or service disabled veteran owned firms that can provide goods and services relevant to the project.
- PBS is a member of the Oregon Association of Minority Entrepreneurs (OAME) and regularly participates in trade shows and events targeted toward outreach to M/W/ESB Firms.
Mentoring and Business Development
PBS has undertaken mentoring relationships with small and disadvantaged businesses, including being a recent graduate of the federal GSA Mentor-Protégé Program with our efforts to assist a federally-certified Woman-Owned, Service Disabled Veteran Small Business. Our partnership allowed PBS to support the mentored firm with guidance in constructing business plans, business development and technical oversight, conference/facility sharing, and administrative support, as needed.
