Golden Hills Wind Farm

 Sherman County, Oregon
PROJECT PROFILE
This project ensured that construction activities from a large-scale wind farm development did not result in excess erosion and sedimentation towards waterways, allowing for the expansion of renewable energy sources while minimizing harm to the environment from construction.
  Holly Burnett, Staff Scientist

PBS provided assistance to the 29,500-acre Golden Hills Wind Farm during its construction phase in order to recommend erosion and sediment control best management practices (BMPs) and pollution prevention measures to be implemented to protect water quality.

PBS’ work included multiple site audits of the current erosion and sediment control
BMPs, drafting of an Erosion and Sediment Control Plan, recommending corrective actions, using the computer model RUSLE2 to estimate rates of soil erosion, and assisting with regulatory interactions.
